Gransfors Bruks Wildlife Hatchet

The Gransfors Bruks Wildlife Hatchet is a small, light axe which can be easily carried, masked with its leather sheath, inside your pack or on your belt. Even with a small axe you can manage much: cut branches in the back-yard or chop and split sticks for a camp fire. This little hatchet awakens in many of us memories and dreams of exciting camps and adventures.
The hatchet has a 3" face and a 14" hickory handle and the head weighs 1 lb. The total weight with the sheath is 22.4 oz.  It comes with a grain-leather sheath. A 36 page Axe book is included with each purchase. 20 Year Guarantee.
When it comes to axe enthusiasts, the Swedes are the world's greatest, and Gransfors Bruks is one of their finest forges. Each axe is carefully forged by an experienced smith who shows his pride in his work by stamping his initials on the head next to the company logo and each smith is introduced in the 36 page booklet that accompanies every Gransfors Bruks axe. After forging, each blade is ground to a 25 degree bevel and honed to a razor edge. Each axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener.

Cold Steel Viking Axe - A Formidable Weapon

Cold Steel has been a long time believer in the ferocious cutting power of a well-designed Viking Axe. The Cold Steel Viking Axe's formidably long, thin blade is fully polished and hand sharpened to a bone-splitting, shield shattering edge. It comes with a robust 10" cutting surface that terminates in two sharp horns or points. Traditionally, the longer top point was used for stabbing, gouging, or parrying, while the slightly shorter bottom point was used to capture an opponent's shield or to hook and immobilize his neck, arms, or legs.

To maximize leverage, strength, and dexterity of movement, the Viking Axe is equipped with a very strong, resilient haft. Made in Maine from the best hickory available, it enhances and amplifies the Viking Axe's lethal potential as a cutting, chopping and stabbing weapon.

Specifications: Overall Length: 52", Hawk Length: 9 5/8", Primary Edge: 10 1/3", Steel: 1055 Carbon, Weight: 4 Lbs. 10 oz., Handle: 48" Long. Hickory.

Wetterlings Forest Clearing Axe Review

The Wetterlings Forest Clearing Axe (model 26H) is made in Sweden at the Wetterlings Forge which is one of the top axe forges in the world. The Forest Clearing ax is a nicely made mid-size clearing axe... the Forest Clearing Axe is Wetterlings version of the Gransfors Bruks Scandanavian Forest Axe.
The Forest Clearing Axe is a professional quality axe for those who want to limb a felled tree in traditional Broad Axe, manner. The head is hand forged to a thin, curved bit and sharpened to make it suitable for cutting branches of fresh, resinous wood, spruce or pine.  The handy size is smaller than a felling ax but larger than your typical bushcraft ax and it is able to adeptly perform both functions.
The 26.5" handle is made of straight grain Hickory with the Wetterlings stamp on it and a lanyard hole on the butt end. Hickory is unsurpassed for its shock absorbing abilities and its strength as a handle material. The handle fits perfectly through the eye of the axe head.
The axe head is hand forged which makes for a stronger steel with more flex than a machine forged head. It has a nice keen sharp edge and the combination of hand forging and heat treatment provides more "sting" or a "longer edge life" than a machine forged head offers. The axe head measures 6.5" in length with a 3.5" cutting edge and weighs 1.7 lbs.
To sum it up this high quality Swedish Axe is built to perform and it is almost identical in size and function to the Gransfors Scandinavian Forest Axe for quite a bit less.
