13 New Swedish Axes for America by Hults Bruk

Hults Bruk (Hultafors Bruks) axes have been forged by hand and crafted in the traditional way since 1697. At the Hults Bruk factory in Ostergotland Sweden, their smiths perform the work that not many others are able to do. Only a few producers in the world employ smiths who can produce this kind of craftsmanship.

Hults Bruk Axe heads are forged from Swedish axe steel of a consistently high quality. The steel is stuck many times until the axe attains its final form. It's a costly method, but this increases the density of the steel and thereby the durability and life of the axe, particularly if you compare it to axes that are forged with only a few strikes. The Hults Bruk hardening method leaves a clear hard zone within which the axe can be sharpened whilst not detracting from the strength of the edge.

These Hults Bruk Swedish Axes are heirloom quality and compare on an even par with those made by Gransfors Bruks and Wetterlings Swedish Axe Works. Used correctly, Hultafors Bruks axes can last for generations. Hultafors Bruks produces axes that are designed for a number of different applications, including felling and splitting. Hults Bruk also produces axes that can be used outside the workplace for hunting, camping and sports. Here are the new 2015 Hults Bruk models which were just released...

Gransfors Bruks Carpenter Axe - Perfect All Around Hatchet

The Carpenter's Axe by Gransfors Bruks is everything in one. It is designed as a Carpenters Axe but it works well cutting down small trees as well as for hunting and wood carving. The GB Carpenter Axe is a perfect all around hatchet.

The Gransfors Bruks Carpenter's Axe features a straight edge and thin blade with low angle of bevel face, suited for work in dry wood. This, and the long straight cutting edge, gives rigidity, stability, and control when cutting. Functions like a good heavy knife. The axe butt is ground and can be used as a hammer. Has a 3" face, 1 lb. head and an 18" hickory handle.

Gransfors Bruks Kubben/Hand Hatchet Review

The Gransfors Bruks Hand Hatchet is an excellent tool for camping, backpacking and bushcraft use. Historically the Hand Hatchet was known as the Kubben Hatchet, it shares the exact same axe head as the extremely popular Wildlife hatchet but it has a short stocky handle which feels great in hand.

Side by side view of the Hand Axe with the Wildlife hatchet.

The hand axe has a 1lb. hand forged carbon steel head and a beautiful shock absorbing hickory handle. Hickory is the best handle material for axes because of it's shock absorbing qualities.  The wood is from the heart so it makes the quality of this little hatchet even better. The handle actually has a traction grooves which give a great grip. The Hand Hatchet really shines when you consider how unique it is. It has superior chopping capabilty when compared to a knife of the same weight. It also can carve wood with minimal effort so you can make all sorts of things for your campsite from tent stakes to wooden bowls. The GB Hand Hatchet provides all this without the size & weight of a full size axe.
If you're looking for an extremely portable axe that can comfortably be carried full time on the belt with high quality swedish steel that is an excellent chopper then the GB Hand Axe is something you should definitely checkout.
