Wetterlings Forest Clearing Axe Review

The Wetterlings Forest Clearing Axe (model 26H) is made in Sweden at the Wetterlings Forge which is one of the top axe forges in the world. The Forest Clearing ax is a nicely made mid-size clearing axe... the Forest Clearing Axe is Wetterlings version of the Gransfors Bruks Scandanavian Forest Axe.
The Forest Clearing Axe is a professional quality axe for those who want to limb a felled tree in traditional Broad Axe, manner. The head is hand forged to a thin, curved bit and sharpened to make it suitable for cutting branches of fresh, resinous wood, spruce or pine.  The handy size is smaller than a felling ax but larger than your typical bushcraft ax and it is able to adeptly perform both functions.
The 26.5" handle is made of straight grain Hickory with the Wetterlings stamp on it and a lanyard hole on the butt end. Hickory is unsurpassed for its shock absorbing abilities and its strength as a handle material. The handle fits perfectly through the eye of the axe head.
The axe head is hand forged which makes for a stronger steel with more flex than a machine forged head. It has a nice keen sharp edge and the combination of hand forging and heat treatment provides more "sting" or a "longer edge life" than a machine forged head offers. The axe head measures 6.5" in length with a 3.5" cutting edge and weighs 1.7 lbs.
To sum it up this high quality Swedish Axe is built to perform and it is almost identical in size and function to the Gransfors Scandinavian Forest Axe for quite a bit less.
